DAYDREAM TWINS .

EST. 2021

The dreamy, couple-lead four-piece started in August of 2021 with its foundational members, Jordan Terry (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Aidan Babinski (lead guitar). Originating from Southern California, Terry met Babinski back in 2019. The two quickly bonded over their love for not only hazy and lully music, but for one another. Consequently, the duo began creating conspicuously ethereal tunes in Terry’s Dripping Springs-based bedroom. September of 2021 witnessed the pair’s first single, Carpop, born from a cheap preamp and an outdated version of GarageBand. As tracking (in the same format) continued throughout the end of 2021 for numbers such as Moonlight Serenade andBetween the Spacetrains and Me, September of 2022 saw the group’s first LP: a self-titled, fourteen-track, shoegaze-ambient motion picture of shimmering beauty and intense affection.

The second-ever issue from Daydream Twins was a five-track journey through ripping fuzz, verbed ballads, occasional duetted vocals, and dreamy sludge, entitled Bombinate. Released in October of ‘23, this sugar rush EP propelled the vigor of the four-piece into the new year by securing their slots as official South by Southwest artists for 2024.

Jordan Terry

Aidan Babinski

Texas-native Aidan Babinski (age 24) layers the band with hazy guitar trills and dense riffage. Serving as the sole drummer for most previous acts, the genesis of Daydream Twins saw Babinski out from behind the kit and into the writer’s chair, becoming the primary songwriting workforce of the band. Babinski’s vibrant use of unconventional recording methods, effect pedals, and sentimentally-charged hymns lays the foundation for lead singer Terry to bestow her beauty upon. Babinski’s avante-garde approach to Daydream Twins’ studio and recording work also provides the band with a distinct sonic colour that ascends the unit from their counterparts.

Hailing from San Clemente, California, Jordan Terry (age 22) reigns her sultry-dreamy prowess over Daydream Twins with a tranquil voice, libretto decades beyond her age, and a whirling, shimmering guitar tone. Her love for noisy melancholia is what drew her and her partner in so close, musically. Terry also stands out with her niche taste in arts. She asserts herself ahead of the curve not only utilizing her shining, ethereal voice, but her craftwork of mantras and poeticism, striking listeners to the core. Terry, while providing one-hundred percent of the lyricism for the band, also oversees operations and manages show bookings for the group.

Ivan Kipp

Bassist

Long-time, mutual riff-hailing friend of Babinski and Terry, bassist Ivan Kipp (age 22) has become an integral part of Daydream Twins’ live rhythm section. In 2020, Kipp was introduced to Babinski through a friend while searching for a like-minded drummer to fulfill some meditative jam sessions. Kipp and Babinski met up frequently to noodle around with anything that had to do with doom metal, right after the release of Carpop. As Kipp kept a close relationship with Daydream Twins over the years, as well as fronting his own act, July of 2024 saw the entry of Kipp into the band. His pummeling and thunderous tone is the foundation that Daydream Twins relies upon night by night.

Shortly after the release of the self-titled LPーand with a continuous shifting lineupーthe couple came into contact with bassist Chris Welvaert (age 23). Born in Austin, originating from the land of post/noise rock, and sharing a love for doom metal with Babinski, Welvaert was introduced to the dyad through a mutual riff-hailing friend. Soon, after reconnecting at a show, Welvaert was swiftly brought on. With his extensive knowledge of audio engineering & mixing, Welvaert not only hones in the low-end for Daydream Twins, but assists immensely in the world of knob-turning (see his successes in Bombinate). Welvaert also resides as the rumble scientist for Austin-local Doom/Slowcore/Noise trio, Illkilter

Bryce Weston

Drummer

After an eventful South by Southwest, and in need of a new live drummer, Daydream Twins came into contact with phenom Bryce Weston (age 21). Originally born in Huntington Beach, CA, Weston was influenced by early 2000’s rock that his dad turned him onto. He also looked up to the likes of Vinnie Colaitua and John Bonham in his adolescent years of drumming. Weston would test out of high school at age 16 to attend the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA, where he would later go on to graduate at age 18. After moving to Georgetown, TX, he began teaching drum lessons at the School of Rock, where he still teaches today. Weston’s precision and endurance transcends above peers around him, all while making it look so natural.
